Drag and Drop on page (not Question item)
March 21, 2013 12:00 AM
Hey gang,
Has anyone created a Drag and Drop on a page, not within the Drag and Drop Question? I guess the easiest way would be getting the mouse coordinates. Does anyone know if I can pull in the mouse coordinates easily??
Thanks,
Ramona

I am curious about the reason you need the drag-and-drop outside of a question. What extra functionality/control are you gaining? When I have needed a D&D as a page item in the past, I delete the question "parts" and no one is the wiser.
Our lessons are in Flash. Each Lesson has 3 to 10 slides and the navigation between the slides are within Flash. We have been pulling them into Saba Publisher so we could make a SCORM package when needed. We have just upgraded to Lectora Publisher 11. I feel that a better way is to make each slide a swf and have Lectora do ALL the navigation. It would make our swf smaller and make it easier on the Flash Developers (which includes me!)
We have a transcript box that our customers require us to show/hide/and drag. This allows us to use the whole screen for animation/learning purposes without having a dedicated transcript area. Since all our navigation was done in Flash before, show/hide/and drag was quite easy.
I have been able to pull the transcript from Flash into Lectora using variables. I can show and hide the transcript box, but I need to be able to drag and drop the transcript box in Lectora.
Since I haven't found a way to do this, I have now gone back to having the transcript box in Flash to be able to drag and drop, but I now need a button in Lectora to be able to close the transcript box. I haven't been able to get Lectora to run a Flash function or to get Lectora to pass a variable to Flash.
Either draging and dropping in Lectora or Lectora button closing the Flash Transcript Box would work for me, I just have to get one working.
I really wish there was more documentation on working with Flash and Lectora.

The problem with using the Question Drag and Drop is that their is a Drop locations. Maybe I should have said is there a way that I can DRAG something easily.
Yes, I agree with mccrawrr. I often use drag and drop questions as interaction items. Just because it is a "question" doesn't mean it has to be evaluated or include feedback, etc. Or even look like a question. After you build the question with the images/text you want, just set any elements you don't want the student to see as "initially hidden".
