There is no version 7 or 8. I am very confused. Are you talking about Lectora? Lectora uses the year. 2005, 2006. If you are asking for a 2005 version of the 2006 file, the answer is no, I cannot save it as there are several features that come from 2006. You CAN read all published version, the first hyperlink regardless of what you have. And, I have been told but have not tried it, that you can open and load a 2006 file but that 2006 features will not work.
