countdown timer
January 20, 2011 12:00 AM
hi.
i am very new to lectora.
i would like to make use of variables to create a simple countdown timer from 15 to 0.
i had set the following procedures but the counter does not work.
1. create a text box called Display.
2. create a variable called Countdown (initial value =15).
3. Set action on text box(Display): Modify Variable, Target: Countdown, Subtract 1. Add a conditional that the action only if Countdown is greater than or equal to 0.
4. Set another action on text box(Display); Change Contents, Target: Display, With: Countdown. No conditional added.
Did i miss out any action that prevent the counter from working?
Much appreciate for the help.
cheers.

I uploaded a course with a similar timer. I noticed that the textbox which displays 15, skips to 13 and then counts down to 0. This happens on every page with the timer. I also noticed, on a different page with a 40 second timer, it will count from 40 to 39 and never change (the page completes an action after 40 seconds anyway). Not sure why this is happening in ReviewLink.
In Moodle, it does the same thing with starting at 40 and then sticking at 39. In Moodle, some of the 15 go straight to 0 but the page doesn't change until 15 seconds passes. Strange how each platform handles it differently.
