Chapter indicators: started and complete

Before we get into a huge exchange about indicators, it may be something simple that I do not know about yet.I have a menu page that list three lesson (chapters)in the course. Next to each lesson on the menu I have an oval that changes appearance when: the learner has not started the lesson yet, it is white; when the learner has statrted the lesson the oval is half white and half black; when the learner has completed the course the oval is all black. Thus, if the learner returns to the course later he or she can see which lessons have been completed, started, or not attempted.I have check the logic over and over and can find no mistakes, but when I run the course preview mode the idicators show all lessons completed. Is this something simple like not knowing how to reset the course for a new user--or something like that?Thanks,
