Changing default question layout

Hi,We would like to use QTI import, wich works ok from a technical point of view. But I would like to heve the questions in a graphical environment. Is there a way to set up Lectora, a Lectora related file, or a lectore template to import the create the questions in non-default layout?

Dirk,Sorry I couldn't be more help. We have not yet attempted to update content utilizing XML or using the QTI import. We have been very successful so far by keeping it simple as much as possible and trying to utilize Lectora's existing capabilities as much as possible. A majority of our internal users do not have the programmings skills to deal with XML or Java as many folks in these forums have. You are right though each new release of Lectora offers us more capabilities but still leaves us wanting more.Hope you work out your issue.Shawn

Right, currently there is not an export to CSV option. It only imports. The QTI import utility has not changed, only the CSV importer has the additional funcitonality. These are all good suggestions and we'll look into them. Not sure exactly what you are wanting to do, however, you could use the QTI import to create just a title with only the questions in it. Then export the title to XML and do a find and replace to change the X/Y coordinates of the question objects from the original coordinate position to where ever you would like them. Then save them XML, import it back in. Use the import from existing title tool to bring in the objects from the template title.

Hi Shawn, thank you for your reply. You are right, enhancing Lectora questions and test with extra 'home-made' feature can work quite well. But as you stated, this is not really the problem for us.We have built graphical test interfaces in Lectora, and wanted to fill them up dierctly with QTI import. For now, we have to rely on intermediate XML transformations, wich takes time and customistion effort ...It would be nice if the CVS import features would also be possible for QTI importn having some kind of 'preferences' file are dialog, like for the offset positions, buttons, etc ...We are managing it right now, but we always want more :)Especially since the 2005 update gave us new hopes on Lectora development.

Will anybody know that can the lastest Lectora support the CSV import a multiple choice question with multiple answers or not? Will anybody know that can the lastest Lectora support the CSV import a multiple choice question with multiple answers or not?

What happens when you try this in a one question title? What happens when you try this in a one question title?

Probably this is what we will do for now.Probably this is what we will do for now.

Dirk,If you are looking to create a test without using the standard Lectora test question layout you can do so with a little imagination. I have been experimenting with using drop down lists from the forms menu to update question variables on a test page. This allows me to have users make multiple selections from available information in order to get to the correct answer. To do this I create a test page and select the question formats I want to use, if using a fill in the blank I set the answer to "correct". I then make the question fill in box invisible on the screen. After this I add the drop down boxes that I want the student to interact with and set up an action that will update the question variable to "correct" or "incorrect" depending on the combination selected. I've tested this in our AICC validated templates and the variables pass correctly to the LMS. This may not be what you are looking for but it will provide you an option.Good luckShawn

Hi Aaron,I see, but we recieve QTI imput for now.We could import that in Lectora, but there is no export to csv to get it back out.So we would need to transform the QTI to CSV and add these settings to it?Haven't checked the csv part yet, but wouldn't it be nice to have the possibility to add these settings in an additional file, or fill them in in a wizard when importing the QTI ?

In Lectora 2005, there is a new CSV question import utility, which might be what you are looking for. It allows you to set an offset for where to place the imported questions, specify the size of the pages, along with other options such as to include page navigation.
