Can user choose avatar/character in course?

Hi--

I am working on a call simulation course right now and at the beginning we give the user the choice of 6 avatars from which to pick to represent them throughout the game. Once they choose, I need the image of the character they choose to populate in certain areas throughout the rest of the course. I assume that entry fields only populate text, is it possible to program something similar that will populate an image? Is there another way to go about this?
