Button in assessment

Great. Thanks - however that prompts another question. I have a "Check Answer" button on my page. Depending on how the user answers the question he/she will see the Correct or Incorrect popup upon clicking it after selecting an answer and then the next assessment page is automatically displayed. Is there a way to set the variable on the button you mentioned above if they just don't answer it at all? I am new to using variables. Thanks
