Butons not responding to Enter
June 15, 2007 12:00 AM
The issue of the enter key not successfully triggering button actions is in fact a JAWS bug. We have contacted Freedom Scientific, have reported the bug, and they are aware of it, but apparently have not fixed it. If you run your published course without JAWS, you should find that you will be able to tab to your buttons, and use the enter key to execute the button action(s).The following is an excerpt from our Support team to Freedom Scientific, and their response:From our Trivantis support team:JAWS is disabling the common> functionality of tabbing to a link and hitting the enter key to activate> it from within a page in the IE browser. This is in violation of 508> compliancy subpart B, 1194.21(b) standards. Without JAWS running,> keyboard activation of the buttons functions flawlessly within IE, you can tab to them and activate them fine. As soon as JAWS> is turned on, it captures all of the keystrokes, and none of the buttons> function any more. It is disabling the common functionality within the> IE browser. From Freedom Scientific:Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific technical Support. Our> development team is aware of this issue. However, you can perform the> insert+number row 3 prior to pressing enter to pass the next keystroke> through and this will work or use the JAWS cursor and the left mouse> click (/) to activate the link. I apologize for the inconvenience.
