Bullet numbering issues - very strange spacing

Hello all, we just upgraded my version of Lectora to v11. One problem we are finding is spacing on bullets when using numbers.

How do we resolve this strange problem?

Can you tell us where you're seeing this problem? A specific browser or mode?

Also, can you check your version number - you can find it by selecting the Help icon in the upper right-hand corner and selecting "About Lectora". I want to make sure you're on the most up-to-date version - 11.1.

Finally - can you tell us what type of font formatting you're using - specifically Font Size, Font Style, and any line spacing applied?

The more information we have, the easier it will hopefully be for us to research and reproduce your problem.

Thanks!

Bump... I would really appreciate some help on this.

Within a text box if the text is longer then a single line and wraps to the next line it places a 3 or 4 character space in front of the text that starts on the 2nd line. If you click in front of the text and hit enter it removes the spacing, however, when you export it to html, the spacing is still there and nothing within the html can be changed to fix it.

Also, why does it export the html in a span, rather then a ol/ul?

I am using 11.2a. It is an issue with all fonts in all sizes and on all browsers. I'm now experiencing yet ANOTHER problem with Lectora bullets. Every time I use bullets the first word in the list gets an additional space. I've checked and there's nothing I have been able to do. This happens with all fonts and all sizes.

As you can see in this example, the left image is what it looks like in Lectora (no space), but when published to HTML it adds an additional space. I hope this gets resolved because my client is threatening to move to Articulate if Lectora cant resolve these issues. Also someone in the company may want to align tech support and correct the hours posted online. It states support hours are until 7pm, when in fact on the phone it closes at 5:30pm

Can you turn on Text Formatting Marks and post a screenshot of what the entire text block looks like? I'm curious what kind of line breaks are being used. You can find the button on the Home Ribbon > Paragraph Panel. This will turn on formatting marks for all text throughout your title, and can be toggled on and off at any time.

What happened to the end of this thread? I posted an image with Text Formatting Marks. Laura you even replied saying that the developers CONFIRMED it is a bug. Why was this deleted from this thread?

Is this bug fixed yet? What is going on here? I find it ridiculous that a simple bug like adding an extra line space for bullets was missed by developers in the first place and not even known until months after its release. Does Trivantis even have a QA team?

I want an update on this before I suggest my company and all my clients to look at alternatives.

I can't speak to the whereabouts of the forum thread, but I have officially documented this issue. All of our product releases are thoroughly tested by our QA team, but unfortunately when it comes to text and browsers, some of the changes that resulted with the v11 HTML updates caused some strange issues.

Please know that we are in the process of over-hauling our text engine and plan to address many of these issues and more in a future release.

The end of this thread was probably lost when the Snap forum was integrated. The whole weeks' postings before that is gone.

Tim

Has this issue been resolved yet, I only seem to get these issues in IE and FF, chrome seems to be ok.

This is unreal. What kind of company allows for such a simple bug go unfixed for so long?

It's now nearly 5 months since I've asked about this and the problem is still ongoing, with no updates. How can it take so long for a development team to get this fixed?

We are currently working to release an update at the end of this month. The update will include a fix to address the line spacing for bullets, along with a number of bug fixes and enhancements.

Is there any update to fix this issue? This issue was also there in Lectoa 10. Can't believe this wasn't sorted out in the new version. The 1st image shows the HTML view of 2 bullets, where the 2nd bullet alignment is perfect. And the 2nd image is a source file view of the same 2 bullets. You can see the adjusments done on the 2nd bullet just to get a perfect alignment. This is really a frustrating bug. We can't just keep on adjusting spaces and checking in HTML if the alignment is perfect.

I apologize for the frustration you are experiencing. We have made a number of corrections in the product to keep the text in the editor as close to what you see in the browser and plan to make over this feature for a future update.

@lauram, did the bullet point fix get pushed out? I just updated Lectora, but it's still an issue. Same issue that everyone else is having.

The approach we intend to take to resolve this issue will involve changing the way we publish bulleted and numbered lists, so this will be part of our next major version. Unfortunately, I do not have a date that I can share at this time.
