Best Practices for naming files

Pages: Think about how they will look in the table of contents - a very useful tool. I use meaningful names so I can use the TOC as a Course map.Objects: First, I don't try to label every image. Too much trouble and no big benefit. Lectora uses its images... and shape ... so don't use those. For my navigation icons, I prefixed with zz to get them to sort to the bottom because I don't refer to them much after the page is set up. I don't want to have to scroll thru them every time I am looking for something. And if I am looking for a nav object, I know where to find it. Same for other regular graphics like maybe an OK button, lines, ...For pictures I may reuse a couple of times and want to be able to find, I prefix with an underscore. This gets them to sort to the top - less scrolling and they don't get mixed with Lectora variables. I use a prefix which ties it to the chapter if it is only used there. Kind of groups the images, again, making them easier to find. I also include either "scr" or "diag" in the name for screen shots and diagrams. That way, I don't have to see a thumbnail to know what it is.
