autoplay not working on PC
July 12, 2016 12:00 AM
The autoplay is not working when I play the published Inspire course on a PC. I am updating a course in Lectora 16 from Lectora 12. I added a few minor changes and republished it to html. The audio on the slides will not play now. This was working fine before I republished. If I change the controller to visible and uncheck autoplay, I can play it in the published output. The audio on the videos works fine. It is the same in Chrome and IE 11. My co-worker has the same version of Lectora and his did not do this. I can play his output in my browser and the autoplay is working. What could be causing this?

Is this part of the installation or do I need to change something within the course?
No, its part of the installation. If its not going to be a tremendous job, I would try to remove the audio on one page and then re-insert it using the new media player as a test.
Maybe it's something with the audio file itself? I am having no problems with audios and auto start in a course I'm migrating from Lectora v11. Do you have events in your file? The new player is setting events differently.
You could also try to import an audio from your colleagues course to see whether they work in your title.

I'm not sure if this is the issue but Trivantis switched their internal media player between versions 12 and 16. As part of your revisions did you add the new media player?
My audios are all regular mp3 files. They play fine, if I do not set to autoplay. Since I have already changed the course, I tried a different course that I did not change and the same thing happens.
Here's something to try. Add an HTML Extension - Header Scripting with the following:
is.useHTML5Video = function(){ return true; }
This will force lectora to use HTML5 media in case you are defaulting to Flash.
"My co-worker has the same version of Lectora and his did not do this", yeah, I missed this. In addition to what Tim suggests you might also want to try to do a straight update without making any changes at all.
I tried his mp3 in my course, but it didn't make any difference. We record them on the same PC with the same software, so I am not surprised it didn't matter.
I tried removing an audio file and re-inserting it and this did not help.
Did you try what Tim suggested and use your MP3 on their Lectora and their MP3 on your Lectora?
