The course should be contained within an assignable unit (AU). The simplest way of viewing an AU, is that the LMS will see each AU as a seperate entity for recording purposes. You cannot link between AU's, only the LMS can do that.
Check the variable manager and see if anything is changing the AICC_Lesson_Status. Next thing you want to check is the AU properties. Make sure that the AU properties match the quiz that you have regarding scoring, this is a common error with LMS's that I have run into.
